BISCOII Out of the Darkness

So while at Camp Bisco I really wanted to take the time to work on some long exposure night photos.

Cars parked at the camp.
Looking at the Bisco stage.
Dancing with necessary glow equipment.
Three check out bonfire.
At left Cheree readies to take a photo of a bisco camper, on right with his hands clasped, while another camper, middle, rubs hands for warmth in the morning, all from below.

BISCO I

This August I went up to Van Etten, NY with my friend Cheree and met up with my friend Tim at Camp Bisco. Camp Bisco is a music, camping extravaganza. All of these hippy kids get together and camp and listen to music over the course of two days, and man are these kids really diehard fans of the music. Both Cheree and Tim are into jam bands like the Disco Biscuits, from Philly. I don't listen to this type of music, but I thought the trip might be fun and I would get to be in the woods camping and taking pictures, I had a good time. Yeah, I did some dancing. I will post the pics in two sets.

Now to the west side...

I spent a week in Califonia at my sister's place in Santa Monica and snapped these...

-At the 3rd St. mall -
I stumbled upon a woman who had been dumped by her boyfriend in the mall and had to be escorted out of the mall because she was causing a big scene.

-The Chinese Theater-
I really don't get the people who actually PAY to get their pictures taken with people dressed up kinda sorta like superheroes.

This Chucky thing scared my sister, usually I think she overreacts a bit, but this time, well, this thing is scary.

HE HE HE.

-Santa Monica Pier-
When I was in CA I was so fortunate to be introduced to this thing called the Marine Layer. Man was that a buzz kill. Everday except for the last day I was in CA I would wake up in the morning in hopes of catching some good early morning sun but instead there were these really low grey depressing skies; they eventually burn off but not until like 1PM. The last day my sister got up early and woke me up to go to the pier. The light was amazing. The coast is beautiful.

While my sister and I were out taking pictures on the pier she saw this guy under the pier.

-Near my Sister's Place-
There are lots of places with an amazing aray of plants and vines and hedges and things. Her apartment had some beautiful vines and things as well.

A look back at summer

DOWN THE SHORE. A three day trip to Wildwood, NJ, mid July to visit my friend Tim.

This is "T" from LA. She was in Philly visiting my roommate Yomi and went with me down to Wildwood.

I didn't ride this roller coaster, but I did stand and stare at it for like 5 minutes before I took this picture. It looks great at night, you can get so close, it just towers above you.

At night on the beach.

Tim baptized by the waves.

Tim lived in Wildwood this summer. He walked around so much in his brown flip flops that the dye in them turned the bottom of his feet red.

This is Craig. Tim's little brother, keeping it real and keeping "T" company while I took photos on the beach. Thanks Craig!

"T" and I got Craig to pay for this haunted ride on the boardwalk. It was not scary at all but it was cool for taking long exposures. Thanks again Craig!

Seagulls are crazy on the boardwalk. Here they started swooping down like they were going to attack all of us.
This is "T" in the roadside motel we stayed in the first night we were in Wildwood. We were really tired when we got there but that didn't stop me from taking pictures. There was a bad thunderstorm that night and I started thinking that the nice man that rented the place to us was really a serial killer and was going to sneak into the window behind my bed that wouldn't lock and stab me a couple of times. It was a dark, remote place like in a scary movie. The wood paneling on the walls reminded me of an old '70s horror movie. Anyway, the next day we woke up, it was bright and sunny, and we headed to Cape May for the day.

These last two photos are from the last morning in Wildwood. It was so dark and hazy, but still there was beauty in it.
